In 2025 the Sure Community Foundation donated £44,326.28 to 43 charities and not-for-profit organisations across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Funded through colleague donations and guided by trustees from across Sure, the Foundation has now donated £439,816.26 since it was established in 2012.

That support has benefitted islanders from all walks of life across the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and further afield, from those recovering from brain injuries and receiving hospice care to families affected by Motor Neurone Disease, from organisations supporting young people to causes focused on improving everyday wellbeing.

Lucienne De La Mare is Sure's HR Director and chairs the Foundation. She said: "2025 was a significant year for the Foundation. We aim to help as many charities and not-for-profit organisations as we can, in ways that genuinely strengthen the work they do locally.

"None of this would be possible without the Foundation's trustees, who give their time on top of their day-to-day roles to run the charity and make sure each request is considered with care. I'm very grateful for their commitment and the energy they bring to every application.

"We know from regular staff surveys how proud our people are of what the Foundation achieves each year. Colleagues feel connected to the difference being made in their communities, which creates a real sense of island pride and belonging. It’s a simple reminder that together, small contributions can amount to something truly meaningful."

Support shaped by our colleagues

Every year, 80% of the donations made by employees to the Foundation are dedicated to ‘chosen charities’, which are selected by Sure teams across the islands for longer-term support for their vital work. The remaining funds are dedicated to applications for support, which are carefully reviewed each month by trustees against the Foundation’s criteria.

Funds are raised by colleagues contributing from their salaries, regular events like dress-down days or fundraisers, and annual funding from the business.

Our chosen charities in 2025 were Safer, St John and Headway in Guernsey; Age Concern and Jersey Hospice Care in Jersey; and Motor Neurone Disease Association and Manx Breast Cancer Support in the Isle of Man.

Making a difference across the islands

Here are some of the ways the Sure Community Foundation made a difference in 2025:

  • Safer – received donations through our chosen charity initiative, alongside funding for new laptops to help the team continue delivering vital day-to-day support and services.
  • Jersey Hospice Care – the Foundation helped fund a specialist mattress designed to enhance patient safety and comfort for people receiving hospice care.
  • Motor Neurone Disease Association – financial support from the Foundation helped the charity continue providing specialist equipment and communication technology for islanders living with Motor Neurone Disease.
  • Girlguiding Guernsey – the Foundation purchased 400 new badge books helping ensure every member could take part and explore a wide range of new activities.

Alongside financial donations, the Foundation also responded to the growing need for digital support. Throughout the year, several organisations received new laptops, mobile phones, tablets, or access to Sure’s Cloud Voice system, helping charities run more efficiently and stay connected.

Helping charities manage costs

To help reduce ongoing bills for locally registered charities across the islands we introduced a 50% charity broadband discount.

Any locally registered charity can apply, and the discount is available on any of Sure’s broadband plans. In 2025, 77 organisations benefited from lower broadband costs.

Our impact, in their words

Cheri Strudwick, Director of Income Generation and Marketing at Jersey Hospice Care:

“What’s really great about the Sure Community Foundation is being able to apply and get a really quick response. Partnerships like this really are vital and I think the beauty of this one is that it’s a pan-island approach from Sure.”

Philippa Stahelin, Executive Director of Headway Guernsey:

“We rely entirely on the generosity of the local community and local businesses like Sure. They’ve done everything from funding certain sessions to certain pieces of equipment we might need. They also helped to set up our first fun run. We don’t have to explain it to them every time, they really do live it with us.”

Karen Gibbs, Headway member:

“Coming to Headway and being in a place with others that may not have had the exact same brain injury but have been through similar situations makes it feel like a real safe place and we can all share our stories and help each other.”

Christine Pain, Honorary Secretary and MND Association visitor:

“We are only a very small charity that supports between 8-10 people a year. We support in very practical ways by providing equipment or anything that people need to make life a little bit easier. It is companies like Sure that keep things running for us.”
