Students Sure did design an ad!

Get ready, get set, design! Students from around the island recently submitted their ads to the Guernsey Press Design an Ad competition which we supported for the third year running.  This long-running contest has been popular with local schoolchildren for years, giving them the opportunity to design adverts for local businesses.

The competition, run through primary and secondary schools in the Bailiwick, allows pupils to tap into their creative skills and design an advert for a local company. The students are provided with a brief, and from there they are free to use their imagination to create the most visually interesting advert they can.

Our brief for this year’s advert focused on Sure being the NatWest International Island Games Official Technology Partner. We asked the students to imagine they were at the Games, taking a picture on a phone, of some sporting action, and then to use that as the basis for their design. The results were very creative, all with unique designs focused on the Games and Sure’s role in the event.

Thousands entered the overall competition, which runs for eight weeks each year. Entrants are divided between junior and senior, each category had first, second and third-place winner. Winners were announced in an all-island awards ceremony with their parents on 20th and 21st June at St Pierre Park Hotel.

The Sure Juniors ad winner walked away with a Sony headset, the runners up receiving ear pods; the Senior winner also received a Sony headset and the runners up each won a Bluetooth speaker. The school with the highest number of winners won a cash prize for their school.
