Connecting the Saffery Rotary Walk

Connecting the Saffery Rotary Walk

We once again supplied the Saffery Rotary Walk with 4G connectivity by providing Mifi units, mobile charge packs for laptops and data SIMs to the organisers.

The 14 Mifi units connected to Sure’s 4G network and were stationed at each checkpoint of this round-the-island walk, helping the organisers to communicate to and from each checkpoint, allowing for a safe and well-organised race along all of the 37 miles.

Walkers took on the challenge on Saturday 10 June, and were able to access accurate time records thanks to the connectivity, whether they were walking solo or in a relay – with the relay times being uploaded during the race.

Mike Fawkner-Corbett, Head of Consumer at Sure, said: “Our engineering team worked hard to ensure the MiFi technology was ready in time for the organisers of the Saffery Rotary Walk, who give their time to make the walk as safe and enjoyable as possible for the hundreds of islanders who take part raising money for charity.

“We know many walkers like to record their times and try to beat it each year, so we’re happy to be able to supply the connectivity, enabling the walkers to get accurate times while they enjoyed walking around beautiful Guernsey. Well done to all those who took part.”

We are committed to the local community, sponsoring many grassroots sporting teams and events like this round the island walk, throughout the year.

The Saffery Rotary Walk, sponsored by Saffery Champness, is one of the island's largest charity fundraising events and has supported dozens of charitable causes over the past 20 years.
