The Sure Community Foundation reaches huge £300k milestone

The Sure Community Foundation, a registered charity that offers support through donations to non-profit organisations, has reached the huge £300,000 milestone which coincides with a decade of giving to great causes in the Bailiwick.

The Foundation is managed by trustees formed from Sure employees and is purely funded by a combination of staff and business donations. It plays a vital role in the communities across Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man, and since 2012 60 charities have benefitted.

This year the Foundation pledged to support Headway Guernsey’s weekly veteran sessions for two years. Headway Guernsey is a local charity supporting islanders and their families who are living with the long-term effects of a brain injury. The donation of £5,700 will cover the cost of renting Headway’s dedicated space at the KGV as well as food, drinks, and entertainment for the group. Crucially, the money will be used to fund the provision of Headway’s specialist staff.

Philippa Stahelin, Executive Director of Headway, said: “The Sure Community Foundation has been involved with Headway for a long time and we are so grateful for their support over the years. We simply cannot run our services without help from foundations like the Sure Community Foundation. By offering to fund Headway’s veteran sessions for the next two years, the Foundation has made it possible for us to plan ahead, undertake new projects, and provide our members with the best possible service.”

Lucienne De La Mare, Chair of the Sure Community Foundation, said: “We have been in place for ten years now and it’s a great achievement to have reached the £300k milestone. The Foundation’s work has made a valuable impact across the community, and we’d like to thank the team for their dedication and kindness which makes this all possible.”

Other Guernsey charities that have been supported by the Sure Community Foundation in 2022 include Bright Beginnings, Grow Limited, Relate Guernsey, Guernsey Voluntary Service, and Citizens Advice Guernsey.
