Our part in the local community
Sure is committed to supporting the local community and that’s why we are proud to have a number of charitable and community programmes in the Isle of Man.
We recognise that many charities, events and community groups rely solely on donations and unpaid volunteers so we try and support as many of them as we can in addition to also providing support with their telecommunications needs.
By donating telecommunications equipment or funding their communications, we enable these organisations to use technology in support of their charitable aims. Examples of this include providing mobile phones so a local care-giving charity and a domestic abuse prevention charity can have volunteers on call 24/7, plus providing mobile broadband to a charity which visits vulnerable and elderly people in their homes - helping them to use the internet to stay connected with family worldwide.
The Sure Community Foundation and our support of community events form the backbone of Sure’s CSR programme, ensuring we continue to fulfil our commitment to be a responsible corporate citizen and a proud pillar of the Isle of Man community.
We are very pleased to be able to provide this support and we look forward to supporting more charities in 2020.
Which charities does the Sure Foundation support?
The Foundation supports charities in the Isle of Man that are aligned to our guiding principles. A few highlights from 2019 included us supporting multiple charities in the Isle of Man including:
- The provision of a smartphone to palliative care specialists Isle of Man Hospice to enable staff a flexible approach to contacting locums using the likes of WhatsApp to quickly gain cover for sick leave, annual leave and during busy times.
- Donation of a 4G tablet to Crossroads Care social club who provide support to carers and people with care needs. The tablet was to help support their clients with additional and complex needs and identified as an essential tool for client interaction.
- To add to this, we supported Manx Breast Cancer Group, a set of like-minded individuals working together to improve the breast care services on the Isle of Man. We gave our support by going pink for the day. Our office and stores took part, and over the course of the day we raised over £100!
