17 years of supporting Isle of Man TT

We are excited to be supporting the Isle of Man TT once again, celebrating our 17th year of being the Official Telecommunications Partner.

We first became the Official Telecommunications Partner of the Isle of Man TT in 2007, the centenary year of the event and the same year that Sure launched on the Isle of Man as a mobile services provider, opening both our office and our Douglas store. We have grown exponentially in our time in the Isle of Man, launching broadband in 2010, fixed line services in 2015 and we started to invest in our own fibre network from 2017. We have also grown from 12 employees to 50 and are continually expanding the range of services offered, most recently into the ICT and modern workplace space.

As sponsors, we’re proud to offer TT fans free WiFi throughout the Grandstand and Paddock area to keep up to date with event news, share photos and videos, and check lap times as they’re released. The Grandstand accommodates approximately 6,000 people over the course of the TT, including officials, teams, spectators and fans. The connectivity that we provide also powers key event systems such as the digital warning flag system and new GPS tracking system, the live broadcasting of the action on TT+ and the scoreboard screens as well as the facilities used by the press.

We will also have a pop-up shop in the Grandstand where you can buy pre-tuned TT AM radios to stay connected to live race commentary and updates around the course, as well as £5 and £10 Pay As You Go SIM packs for visiting spectators.

Sure Isle of Man Chief Executive Mike Phillips said: “Incredibly, we are now into our 17th year of sponsoring the Isle of Man TT as the Official Telecommunications Partner. The time has flown and we’re excited to continue our partnership with the event and expanding our range of services that help support it.

“This year, on-island spectators will be able to enjoy our ultrafast network to get great coverage from around the course, wherever they are watching the races. Finally, good luck to all the riders competing in these thrilling races.”

Sophie Lowney, TT & Motorsport Development Manager, said: “We want to thank Sure for all its support over the years as the Official Telecommunications Partner. Each year bringing new and exciting upgrades to their digital offerings. We always look forward to working with Sure on the TT and to continuing this partnership for years to come.”
