After a milestone 2021, the Sure Community Foundation was delighted to be recognised for its support of numerous local charities with the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Guernsey Community Awards.

The category rewards a local business which has made a meaningful difference in the Guernsey community through charitable or voluntary projects.

Judges commended the Sure Community Foundation’s dedication to keeping Guernsey and islanders connected during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as recognising its support of a range of charities.

Throughout 2021 the Sure Community Foundation supported the Guernsey Bereavement Service, Guernsey Deaf Children’s Society, Bright Beginnings and Relate, among others.

The Guernsey Community Awards are organised annually by the Guernsey Community Foundation, with the purpose to celebrate the local charities, organisations, groups, individuals and businesses who work tirelessly to raise money and embark on community projects for the benefit of others, across the Bailiwick and further afield.

Three organisations were shortlisted in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, with Fultura and Investec joining the Sure Community Foundation. The winners were honoured on Tuesday 3 May at an open-air lunchtime event at Les Cotils, after COVID-19 had caused several postponements of a full ceremony. The attendees included the winners, sponsors, representatives from the Foundation, and John Fernandez as compere. The event was photographed and videoed for those who couldn’t attend.
Sure Community Foundation Chair Karen Jagger accepted the award and the £2,000 prize, which will be donated to the local community.

Karen said: “Myself and the other members of the Sure Community Foundation are over the moon at achieving this award. We’re a group of volunteers and have worked hard and put much of our own time and effort into fundraising and working to support local charities and other good causes. This award signifies that Guernsey recognises the Foundation as beneficial to our community, and really, that’s the best reward.”

Alistair Beak, CEO of Sure Group, said: “It’s fantastic that the Sure Community Foundation has been recognised for all the amazing support they have provided to Guernsey charities, especially the help provided during the Covid pandemic. Thank you, congratulations and well done to all of the Sure Foundation committee members for their commitment and for investing so much of their own time.”

The Sure Community Foundation is a separate entity to Sure and is funded entirely by individual donations, business donations, and fundraising events, and is run by a dedicated team of Sure employees.
