Sure Community Foundation connects Guernsey Community Savings
The Sure Community Foundation, the registered charity of the telecoms company Sure, has donated £2,000 worth of equipment and credit to Guernsey Community Savings.
As part of the donation, Sure has installed hardware, including a landline and broadband connection, and provided two mobile phones, loaded with credit, to the Guernsey Community Savings.
Guernsey Community Savings is a non-profit charitable organisation which helps financially excluded Guernsey residents access basic financial services. It aims to help customers manage their financial affairs, play a full, valuable role in society and ultimately gain access to mainstream banking. All their systems are web-based, so Sure’s donation of resources has had a very positive impact.
Peter Neville, Chair of the Guernsey Community Savings, said: “The generous donation from the Sure Community Foundation has significantly helped our communication.”
Jane Kerins, General Manager, agreed: “We know how much it means to our clients to be able to have a bank account, and the mobile phones and voicemail in the office mean we can be available to them in real time. And the credit in our Sure account means we don’t have to worry about financing phone bills and can focus our resources on helping the people who need us.”
Jason Fitton, of the Sure Community Foundation, said: “We are pleased that our donation has been able to help the Guernsey Community Savings in such a positive way. It is very important to us that we help vulnerable islanders, connect them and promote inclusivity. This initiative fulfils these values through their great work connecting those financially and socially disadvantaged.”
As a provider of critical national infrastructure and a key employer on the island, Sure understands how important it is to come together and support the local community. The Sure Community Foundation will continue to provide support to local initiatives like Guernsey Community Savings.
