The Sure Customer Service Awards winners were announced at a presentation ceremony on Thursday evening to a packed audience at the Duke of Richmond Hotel. Businesses, teams and individual winners represented the full spectrum of the Guernsey business community - all sharing a commitment to delivering excellent customer care.  There were representatives there from Guernsey, Sark and Alderney.

The overall winner for 2019 was the team from Iris & Dora. As a small family run business they were delighted to have been chosen as the overall winner. The Iris & Dora team also won Best Customer Service from a Team and all of the crew were there to celebrate.  Iris & Dora is an independent art studio and gift shop supporting local artists and running workshops and classes for all ages “helping creativity bloom”.  Chief Minister Gavin St Pier and Deputy Joe Mooney were amongst the individuals presenting awards to the Islands’ leaders in customer service.

Director of Guernsey Chamber of Commerce Kay Leslie presented an award and commented: “Guernsey Chamber is delighted to see the increasing importance and awareness of customer and client service as part of this initiative’s expanding and highly relevant efforts. We are aware, as the island’s largest business organisation, of the rising need for people to feel that the level of service received meets or exceeds their expectations. Sure’s Customer Service Awards are a positive way of bringing to public attention the hard work and dedication of a broad cross sector of people working in all industries, who fully recognise the requirement for excellence. We are delighted to help celebrate recognition of the winners and all of those taking part.”

Coordinator of the event Jill Clark said: “This year has seen more customers and businesses involved than ever before. A real positive of the awards is that the customer nominations give detail about why they or their team members have really gone the extra mile and delivered exceptional service – some going into pages of feedback. The feedback not only lets them know they are doing a great job, but also how things can be improved – so that service just gets better and better.  That will be a positive move for everyone in the Bailiwick – tourists and locals alike.

“It is clear from the number of entries for this year’s awards that both customers and businesses take customer service very seriously and understand that great customer experience is essential. It was a wonderful evening for the winners, but all the finalists should be thrilled to have got this far – all finalists received certificates in recognition of their amazing achievements. We are also presenting another 50 ‘Highly Commended’ certificates to those who deserve recognition for upstanding top-quality customer service.”

Sure Chief Customer Officer Charlotte Dunsterville commented: “Sure is proud to sponsor the Customer Service Awards and be a part of celebrating those individuals, teams and businesses who work so hard to provide an excellent customer experience.

“At Sure, customers are at the heart of everything we do. We understand that good communication is a vital part of providing an excellent customer service experience, which is what the Customer Service Awards is all about, and we work with local businesses of all sizes and in all sectors to help them to communicate with their customers and clients which ultimately helps them to succeed.

“The support the awards get every year demonstrates the value people place in good customer service. Congratulations to the winners and all the finalists; you should all be very proud of your achievements.”
